Temple Run!!!

What have I been up to lately?  Playing Temple Run, that’s what!

I downloaded this game last Saturday and never a day has gone by without me playing.  The concept is so simple…  You have stolen treasure from a temple and now, creatures are chasing you.  So you have to maneuver through the temple maze by jumping across gaps and tree roots, sliding through booby traps and turning corners without being caught or falling.  Controls are very simple: swiping the screen to the left/right makes you turn a corner in the same way, swiping upwards make you jump, swiping downwards make you slide and tilting the iPad/iPhone to the left/right allows you to run in the left/right side of the path.

I know this may seem to be too easy for all you hardcore gamers out there, but I’m telling you, it’s really addicting because you won’t settle for a score lower than one million (yes, you read that right).  Your reflexes will surely be tested, as well as your patience.

As the game progresses, you run faster and the paths become shorter and more challenging.  Coins are collected each run and the coins that you earn allow you to upgrade power-ups and buy additional characters.  (TIP: Fully upgrade the coin magnet power-up before anything else because this is what would help you gather a huge amount of coins.  This would result in a significant score increase.)

You can also buy single use powers which allow you to resurrect within a run and/or boost your distance to 1,000 or 2,500 meters.  The coins that you collect also fill up a meter.  Once the meter is full, it will give you additional points multiplied by your multiplier.

There are also objectives (goals) that you need to complete.  Once an objective has been achieved, it adds to your multiplier.  This means that once your multiplier is high, you have a greater chance of getting that million.  This game also supports in-app purchases for coins, but based on my experience, there’s hardly a need for that.

Temple Run is free in AppWorld and the size is 19.5 MB.  To download this game through iTunes, click here.  You can also “like” Temple Run’s Facebook page to get updates from the developers.  If you are a Samsung Galaxy user, you don’t have to wait too long.  According to one of their wall posts, Temple Run is coming to you on February 2012.

Happy running!!!
